So yesterday, all of my male students had gone home and I was left with the girls. We were talking about my Wonder Woman cup and out of curiosity, I asked the girls if they thought that girls could be superheroes. Every single one of them said no. Unable to help myself, I explained to them that women and girls could absolutely be superheroes and that there are even a few girl superheroes for them to love.
One of the girls came in today with a Supergirl shirt.
Changing the world, one future-dork at a time.
So I requested to have this afternoon off from work so that I could go see Malala Yousafzai speak with her father about women’s education.
I leave in 45 minutes and I still haven’t heard back from the office about whether or not it’s okay.
WELL, I’M LEAVIN’ ANYWAY.
And really, just stop saying “should” to yourself about your thoughts and feelings in any context. You feel how you feel. The things in your head are the things in your head. You can’t change either directly through sheer force of will. You can only change what you do. Stop beating yourself up for who and what you are right now–it isn’t productive. Focus on moving forward.
The adventures of me wearing my graphic tees/dresses that have to do with video games or shows while working at Hot Topic. True story today.
Guys, stop doing this. It makes you 20000000 times less likely to pick up a girl. Stop “checking” us and let us love our things.
let someone do that to me
I just want to get into my pajamas and rent a movie on iTunes and order a Dominos pizza and fall asleep whilst eating that pizza.
